Current: 2007 Kawasaki ER5, 2014 Kawasaki EX300. 1988 Honda CBR400RR (STOLEN Project)
Very early Saturday March 22, internal access to my garage was illicitly obtained. I live on the first floor of a commercial building and the ground floor garage has internal access from within the building. Along with my helmet, gloves, boots and a friend’s leather jacket, the perpetrators stole my nephew's Honda VF1000R and my CBR400RR project bike.

The 400 was completed and off the work stand. It was ready for revinning (Recertification after being off the register for more than 12 months) and I was planning to call Vehicle Testing NZ in Porirua (nearby city) on Monday 24 to make an appointment for the inspection.

There were 4 other bikes in the garage: my two Kawasakis, (Ninja EX300 and ER-500) and my friend’s two Moto-Guzzi (V7 850 and V10). The two Kawasakis and the V10 were locked but the V7 was not. There were also two of my friend’s e-bikes right by the door. Clearly, they were targeting the 1980s 'classics'. My biggest loss is the time spent getting the CBR up to the point of re-registration.
The Police are on the case and we have some helpful but inconclusive surveillance camera material. We have a strong suspicion that it was an inside job with help from a building tenant.
But the bikes will be long gone and I don't hold out much hope. Such is life, I guess.
