Lone Rider
Blokes Who Can
During my recent visit to Laos I have been busy with updating the GPS map. Updating the map for rural areas is fun but this time I was concentrating on the cities. This is tedious and time-consuming work so I had not much time for the fun stuff so just some random pictures taken during the trip.
Dark clouds over the ASEM villa's in Vientiane
Working hard but still a lot needs to be done
Repairs of the city water supply pipes with the water still gushing out of the pipes so its is swimming and diving time
View over the Mekong from Wat Pakkading (N18.33470 E103.98716)
Sleeping on the job
English language remains difficult
View from the north towards Thakheak and surroundings
The Mekong with floating trees and Nakhon Phanom on the other side
There has been heavy rain and the water-levels in the rivers are high
Low hanging clouds
Catholic church at the Great Wall north of Thakheak (N17.45682 E104.77592)
The Customs and Immigration building at the the 3rd Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge north of Thakeak
Turtle Lake (but no turtles) east of Savannakhet
That Ing Hang (N16.60882 E104.85120) east of Savannakhet
Ancient big fat Buddha statue (N17.35100 E104.80968) at the Sihottabong Stupa south of Thakhaek
That Sikhottabong - The stupa is believed to be one of the most sacred places in Laos. It was built in the 5th-6th Century before Christ year and renovated in the 16th century by King Xaysetthathirath I and renovated again in the 18 Century by Chao Anouvong.
It seems to be "repair and painting time" as both the Sikhottabong Stupa and the stupa at Wat Phabath (N18.27876 E103.16898) are being worked on.
