Up early yesterday ...
... and a difficult dilemma to resolve.
Paint the fence or go for a ride?
I headed out along the 1014 past the local 'airport' at
18.80616
99.11562
Two 'planes have departed since I was last there.
Out along 121 and 3035 to the turn to Ob Khan National Park at
18/68568
98.89706
I hadn't been out this way for a few years and noted quite a few changes along 3035
(and the turn off is easy to miss)
Past the security gate into Ob Khan and delighted to report that entrance is FREE
.
None of that pricing discrimination here!
Along a short dirt road (nicely compacted after the recent rains) and into the park.
The water was still flowing quite quickly and a few tourist families were sharing the water with me.
The water was chilled and I enjoyed an hour or so relaxing there on quite a warm day.
Those rocks were toasty warm.
There's a nice coffee shop there now.
Any camping, partying or picnicing will have to be 'dry'.
That was relaxing.
On to the next venue, Wat Nin Phrapa ...
... after the junction here.
The valleys and scenery out there are most attractive and there are many little tracks leading off the main one.
Into the very lush and attractive small Temple at
18.74823
98.82706
So peaceful out there.
Then onto the next venue, which I hadn't seen in a few years, unprepared for a major shock.
Yipes!
The once peaceful quarry lakes have become a thriving, loud, popular money earner.
From a quarry to a gold mine.
This 'development' must be hell for the people who had invested a lot of money to build their 'dream homes'
beside the once quiet lakes.
Consequently many homes are now for sale!
One of my favourite dining venues, especially leading into dusk, is this restaurant beside the quarry.
The food is very good, the service top class and friendly and the views stunning.

Well, here are the views now.
And what they once were prior to the Water Park.
And because of the head-banging noises from the Water Park this once delightful venue is now for sale!
Anyone with a lazy 30 million baht can buy this mansion, the entire restaurant and the land down to the edge of the lake.
The lake which is most likely doomed for future 'development'.
However, the food is still superb and the staff very friendly.
Tod Man Goong, yummy.
Altogether, an enjoyable and educational 129 kms.
(I will submit this now then add more pics after some resizing)
