For those who love dirt riding in this area, which includes the famous Umphang trail, i am told access to motorcycles is now forbidden and permits will only be issued to 4X4 vehicles.

I am told by forum member Craig, this is due to a Thai rider coming into difficulties having had an accident while riding in the area, will keep you posted on any further news i have.

The sanctuary has always been closed to outsiders June - November.

We’ll have to wait until November to see how things will play out next season.

Latest info from Jack is he cannot get a permit from Sangklaburi heading North, but you can ride from Umphang to Sangklaburi and he will guide you if you wish.
