There are numerous Poy (Poi) Sang Long Shan/ Tai Yai festivals/ festival of the crystal sons (description here Poy Sang Long - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) in north Thailand in the months of March & April. There's even one in early April in Chiang Mai city.

Poy (Poi) Sang Long festivals in March/ April 2013

From some Tai Yai friends we have, we're told one of the biggest/ best Poy (Poi) Sang Long festivals will be in Fang on 28th-29th April. Book accommodation ahead if you're planning to attending. Some of Colin's low cost ideas here: http://www.rideasia.net/motorcycle-forum/accommodation/1057-fang-accommodation.html

Another interesting Poy (Poi) Sang Long festival will be in Ban Piang Luang, about 20km north of Wiang Haeng (co-ords: N19.68786 E98.62605) on 24th-26th April (2 days before the Fang festival). This is one of the most traditional Tai Yai villages in north Thailand & we will probably attend this festival & maybe go onto the Fang festival afterwards. Accommodation will be tough here, there is a GH in Wiang Haeng, alternatives would be to stay in Chiang Dao (http://www.rideasia.net/motorcycle-forum/accommodation/1490-chiang-dao-accomodation.html)

There is a Poy (Poi) Sang Long festival in Mae Rim (15km north of Chiang Mai city) on the 24th of March (2013) for those who are unable to travel. PM me if you want the location.

Thoed Tai (co-ords: N20.23615 E99.66152) , north of Doi Mae Salong usually has a Poy (Poi) Sang Long festival just before the Songkran water festival, so should be at the start of the second week of April. Try the Rim Taan GH (http://www.asiapacificms.com/articles/golden_getaway/)

Last year the Chiang Mai Poy (Poi) Sang Long festival was on the 5th April, 2012

The Mae Sariang Poy (Poi) Sang Long festival last year was at the end of March

The Poy Sang Long festival in Thoed Thai/ Ban Hin Taek (north of Doi Mae Salong) will be on the 3rd to 5th April, 2013 with 30 boys in the festival.
