A few months ago I discovered the beginning of what looked like a good ride, so yesterday I had a good look at it.
Along the #118 speedway for about 45kms from Doi Saket there's a turn-off on the left that goes under an archway ...

The concrete track winds through spectacular scenery within the Khun Chai and Sri Lanna National Parks
and passes a couple of small villages before becoming a dirt track.

My goal was to ride this track to Long Khot.
This ride has everything.
Rutted tracks, water crossings (nothing serious), steep inclines/declines, concrete bits, scenery,
solitude, friendly locals, powdery sand corners, birds chirping, flowing streams and, for the more adventurous, many side tracks.

Left here.

I took it easy, stopping frequently to 'take it all in' and for photos (of course!).
Only a couple of wrong turns, which were soon corrected.

Wat Pang Phra Gard.

The back-pack contained plenty of water and a few bananas, which were needed.
A cool day, blue sky, beautiful scenery and a bike made for these tracks.
Perfect.

Solitude.

Stop at the streams, remove the helmet and listen to perfect silence.
Apart from the chirping of the birds.

One of those 'good-to-be-alive' days.

To give bikes and pedestrians a fair go during and after The Wet Season a couple of these bridges have been built.
Nice place to stop and take in the scenery.

The track eventually opens up onto a bitumen road into Ban Luang, following the Nam Mae Khot.

Wat Ban Luang, on #4093 heading to Long Khot.

The #1001 to Chiang Mai is nearby.
I rode it, being politely waved through a Police Check near the Ban Luang junction.

Stopped here on #1001 for a late lunch and cappuccino; recommend this place, friendly people.

Doi Saket to Doi Saket was 167 kms and the CRF still had fuel in the tank after lots of 1[SUP]st[/SUP], 2[SUP]nd[/SUP],3[SUP]rd[/SUP] gear work.

A perfect day 'in the saddle'.
Map following thanks to Ally.
