The 1001, once past the outer urban area, which we typically avoid by riding a back road that follows a canal (thanks Captain Slash - it's a gem).... is a lovely ride at a nice clip. We often ride the 1001 instead of heading north on the horrible 107 - with its traffic problems, smooth polished corners, etc. Quite often, in order to mix things up a bit, we return via the 1001 and take the 4031 turnoff (couple of km north of the Sticky Waterfall) and ride back through the forest, with a couple of km of dirt, then over the suspension bridge and into town on the 118.

Here's a group of us heading north on an early morning jaunt that took us on to Doi Ang Khang a couple of weeks ago.
