Excellent, I like the fact you use a variety of angles, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting this video - looks really nice and professional. Looks like that the mud was not yet to bad and although I thought I recognized one or two locations, others I could not identify - so it would be nice if you could post a bit more about your itinerary.

Great video. I hesitate to post this one after that.

Here's a longer one I put together recently on my ride up Cape York three years ago. Done more as a primer for those planning to go. Footage and photos from all 5 of us on the trip.... mostly P&S cameras.

I'll put this one on here too. Done about 3 months back, riding out early one morning from Houay Xong in Laos.... along a trail with 100+m drops down to the Mekong. The landslide patches, held together with sticks and bamboo are guaranteed to tighten the sphincter.

I went up into Saisomboun from the south in the hope of then cutting through to Thavieng, and then on to Xieng Khuang. The route however was too muddy for me. Chances of getting out north via Long Cheng/Sam Thong were slim but I tried, again the road was a dead end due to red mud piled several metres high for road construction.

You can see me arrive at the pier for the Vang Vieng ferry, but that decided to not take me, after I waited a day for it (it leaves daily at 11:30). In the end I came back down from Saisomboun the same way I went in, via the southern route, which joins with R13 (S).

Where I get stuck in the mud in the video, before the heavy rain clip, was on a delightful track north looping from Phonsavan to Muang Khoun.

Thanks for the info about the route and yes, the road to the east from Xaysomboun to Thavieng is always a gamble as most of the times the army won't allow people to use this road. The first part of the road to the north from the Phou Bia mine is bad - I was there late June with my truck and we decided to take the Bypass road through the Phou Bia mine as the usual road looked very bad. The Bypass road starts about 5 km. north of the junction at the market in Ban Nam Ngone and goes steep down to the south-east and some 7 km. later joins the main road to Long Cheng again. At the junction where we rejoined Long Cheng Rd from the bypass road, there was a sign that the road was closed. Further to the north to Long Cheng, the road is being upgraded and was in good condition.

Short video I shot last Tuesday.

Made the mistake of trying to visit a famous temple (Wat Hong Thong, Samut Prakan) on a public holiday, bad move, traffic was horrendous. Aborted that mission and spent an hour riding around the no man's land of the Samut Prakan / Chachaengsao border, which consists of mainly prawn farms (I think, hard to tell), strange place anyway.

There are a few nice canals in the area. This is Bang Phli Noi canal. I like riding canals, picturesque, voyeuristic and a challenge not to fall in at times!

Anyway, an exercise to get to know my new GoPro camera and accompanying free software as much as anything. This video, like the four others I've made over the past month, uses one of the GoPro templates, which if like me you don't have the inclination to spend hours editing a short video, are really handy and extremely easy and quick to use. Enjoy!

Last weekend I was up exploring the shores of the Vajiralongkorn lake, which form the southern reaches of the Khao Laem National Park. I found a few new tracks as well as rode some of my favourites.

Here's a short film I put together of the trip. It was my first outing with my new GoPro Hero 4 Silver. No issues so far. Having the two cameras made taking multiple angles of the action a whole lot easier.

Check out the jump cut at 01:04, Kubrick himself would have been proud!

Hi All,

For anyone based in Bangkok looking for short rides suitable for a Saturday or Sunday morning, I found some beautiful roads out in Khao Kheow, Chonburi which are perfect for a quick weekend morning ride. Here's my video of last weekend's ride:
