Hi guys, my first post so may as well make it a muddled question.

If taking a cambodian registered bike into thai or lao and the rider/owner has a 60 day tourist visa (thai) or 30 day (Lao), whats the limit i can keep the bike in country before i have bring it back over the border? I guess what i am wondering is: is the temp importation time frame for the bike tied to my visa or some other factor.

Cheers

We have Australian registered bikes in Thailand. We received 60 day visa and 30 days for bikes. You can extend the time for bikes at any customs office. We did it effortlessly , so they matched dates with our visa dates and it was free.

oh and we did ask for 60 dyas fir bikes at the border but it couldnt be done. visas are immigration issue and bikes are customs issue. So when you cross border make sure you see both immigration and customs people. Also make sure you buy compulsory insurance before border if you can. Can be hard to find once you are in Thailand. You buy 3 months worth and seems only available in major border towns.
