If they put a 21" front wheel on the X it would maybe be a player. Otherwise its just another GS style exercise.

Oh no they have only gone and put spoke wheels on the best one in the line up, thats my interest in one gone

Why wouldn't they have 1 version with at least a 19" front wheel?

Compared to the photo of the bike at the show, not only does it have spokes, but upside down forks, twin front discs & a single sided swing arm!

Honda is probably going to kill the competition on price and sell a shed load of these. Personally, I've decided I have to have a 450 Dakar Rally setup. Honda or KTM. I'm thinking throw the GPS up in place of the route book, put on a rack and tell the wife I'll be back in a few years.

The upcoming Dakar Rally should help you (and many others) with that decision Bob!

I think the Honda would be the bullet proof option. I don't care how fast it is. I'm just thinking a 450 would be the perfect size for open road power and light weight for the dirt. Hell, then I'd need a windscreen! I'll probably stick with the 250s. You're on the right bike Ron.

I've added some pictures from the show in BKK. The Honda 500x looked pretty well thought out to me. The oil filtre is vulnerable though. The Benellis looked a bit rough, to me anyway
