A friend (in Chiang Mai) needs a cover for his BMW1200GS.
I've seen some in Big C Hang Dong but they appear to be too small for that bike, which has panniers and top-box.
Any suggestions please?

I am going to Tesco's tomorrow, I will check there

I bought a cover at Tesco's quite some time ago, stupidly thinking that a cover for a vehicle is made to withstand sun and rain so I left the bike in the carpark and went to work for 6 weeks, when I came back the cover was in tatters and pretty much disintegrated when I tried to take it off.

You would be better off with a tarpaulin and some bungy cord.

I don't think there is much worthwhile in Thailand, to get a good one you would need to have it sent in. Maybe something available in Sing or HK, I have noticed they don't charge duty when you have stuff shipped in from there.

For a serious cover you can't go past these though:

They seem well made and reasonably priced, semi custom fit (you tell them what bike it is when ordering) and they will even put the brand on the side.

You could prob. take one of the Tesco covers to an awning maker and he could copy it in a decent fabric pretty cheaply.

Thats a great idea. Check the material though, you want something that can breath in Thailands climate. I stored my bikes under a tarp for a while and the frogs loved it. Saw one come out onto my handlebars after taking off, probably getting a little hot where he was living and yeah, as soon as I saw it it jumped right onto me. Crapped myself.

Dave - Maybe you can sneak some sunbrella back for us!

Had exactly the same happen to one I put over a wave being stored at my place.. Few weeks later it had just dried up, and cracked, fluttering off like autumn leaves.. Nice and shiny when new, lasted all of a month or two..
