Advice for Khmer empire temple tour

I am going to do a little Cambodia outing with some friends visiting...we're planning to take our enduros to a history oriented tour through Northwestern Cambodia, specifically we were thinking of doing the ancient temples of Angkor of course but the Khmer era in general including remote temples of Bantaey Manchaey, Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom, Pursat and Battambang provinces...

Anyone been on such an insanely educational tour about ancient architecture in the those areas? Any tips would be welcome...thanks.

He has a lot of out of the way temples and places no tourists visit that are in this line.. Plus hes an all round good guy and great source of PP info.
