5 Super Motards, Nan, Chiang Rai & big hangovers

Looked like a decent couple of days on the weather maps, everyone was free, so 5 of us on super motards headed to Nan.

On R118 NE out of Chiang Mai, a few little niggly problems with the bikes, first one was a chewed up swing-arm chain guard

Then another bikes exhaust mounting bracket sheared off (nothing good old wire ties can't fix)

Then one a little more serious -overheating (check out the steam)

Filled the bike back up with water & it didnt overheat again for the whole trip, we think it might have been a kink in the hose to the coolant expansion tank, causing a pressure build up.

After the the tuning underway, everyone was fine and we had great dry roads all the way to Nan Via R 1091. Da Darios restaurant has moved in Nan & is now down a small side road opposite the Grand Mansion guest house in Nan, 1st time ive tried it at this location.

Stayed in the guest house / hotel 50 meters to the right of Chanel X disco 350 bht, was ok not great, but looks like at the front they have great Chalets for 650 bht, our rooms were in the building below

350 bht room, pretty big and clean

After dinner and a shower, a few drinks at the whiskey bar outside Chanel X, a 6 week old kitten to a liking to us, was very friendly

Then Jack, Chivas & 10o pipers & as usual it all turned pretty ugly, none of us can remember walking back to the room

Coyote show in Filth Club was as good as ever

As you can see the Chivas is now empty (prob. only 11pm)

Next morning, Mr. H feeling very very rough

& it didnt improve, here looking like death

Look tried to console him "don't worry Hass, it's just a hangover - 2 days & it'll stop hurting for sure"

Hot Bread in Nan , great place for breakfast, they speak English, food is great & great service

There's a place opened opposite as well, maybe worth a try

The swing arm protector problem we had ealier in the trip needed some attention, an interesting idea as a temporary measure is to use a leather belt, you can even use the buckle to attach it

After breakfast north bound R 1080 & R 1148 towards Chiang Rai, fantastic views

Mr. H still feeling very very rough, needing to throw up several times on R 1148

R 1148 had been hit hard by the torrential rain a couple of week before hand, there were several collapsed areas along the way

Got to the Red Rose Hotel about 5pm

500 bht - Got the "Star Wars" room this time

Gotta love the space ship style door to the bedroom

Even spaceship style mirrors on the ceiling

Space ship style shower too ! A lot of thought went into these rooms.

This seems to be a very happening place in Chiang Rai "Hardcore", the place was packed. It's south of the night bazaar about 1km

Chiang Rai even has a "World Class Hamburgers" now

Next day R 109 - R 107 back to Chiang Mai & some big rain showers along the way.

Some breakfast suggestions:

Fruit of any kind -apples, oranges etc.
Cereal, pretty much any cereal will do but not too much milk.
The above will taste the same in both directions so not too awkward feeling when you stop on the road to chuck it all up again....

And if anyone is concerned (and I know you are not) -I feel better now...
