Wiang Haeng on the big beasts & "The Nest"

We hadn't taken the 2 big 990's on a run together in a while, with the perfect weather, a group of us made a plan to do the fantastic Waing Haeng loop to coincide with the Chiang Dao Nest's delicious Thursday night BBQ/ Buffet.

The Waing Haeng Loop, NW of Chiang Dao R 1322 & R 1178, is one of the most beautiful rides in north Thailand with very little traffic. What puts many rider's off it is that there's a 25km unmade section on the NW side of the loop.

A fantastic ride, the 25km dirt section isnt too challenging, just seems to go on and on!


Back to Chiang Dao after a full days riding, the views there never get old

Chiang Dao Nest "1" (the one with the Thurs night BBQ) - always book in advance for room and BBQ, they are busy. Chalets high season 850 bht

The 350 bht, Thursday night bbq/ buffet is always superb

The next morning - great views to awaken to through the huge bamboo

With plenty of time on our hands we make a plan to take R 1150 (to Phrao) to R 118, then R 118 SW to Chiang Mai home. Big section here with no fuel stations, so top up in the PTT before we head off

With lots of resurfacing on R 1150 is a nice ride, one of the best in north Thailand
