Due to renovations, the U.S. in Chiang Mai will temporarily suspend passport, notary, visa and other regular services from Monday 12th September through until Saturday 1st November.
Except for U.S. citizen emergencies, consular services at the U.S. Consulate General in Chiang Mai will be suspended from September 12, 2016 to November 1, 2016, due to necessary renovations to the Consular Section.
All non-immigrant visa applicants who wish to travel during this period are asked to make an appointments with the embassy in Bangkok as are those requiring passports, reports of birth abroad, and any notarial services.
The American Citizen Services unit will remain available by email and phone for emergency services such as death and welfare/whereabouts cases.
During this period of closure the ACS Unit will conduct several U.S. citizen outreach events in and around Chiang Mai to process requests for passports, births abroad and notarial services.
Information regarding these outreach events and other important updates will be posted on our website at https://th.usembassy.gov/news-events/ and sent out via email.
