Tyre import

I was wondering if anyone knows if you can bring tyres in from a foreign country ?
If I put them in a suitcase, will customs grab them and try to charge me import tax ?

Well i guess it's like bringing anything in your luggage into Thailand you run the risk of customs rummaging through your suitcases, my guess they would try but how on earth they would calculate a charge would be interesting, but the range of tyres available here now is getting igger all the time so maybe they could be located locally or from BKK.
