Britbike Triumph, the official Thailand, Triumph agent has cut a new deal with the Thai Government regarding taxes on motorcycles sold in Thailand.

Initially, Triumph had got a bad deal because their Triumph, Thai assembly plant was in the wrong zone (location) to qualify for the special tax breaks. This has now been re-negotiated and almost 300,000 Bht will be knocked off the new Triumph Tiger 800 XCX price (new model).
Whispers are that the bike will be priced at around 550,000 Bht, so very similar to the BMW F 800 gs Thai price (530,000 Bht) . This updated model will have the same frame and engine with WP suspension, see below:

Tu from Britbike Triumph says most of their models from 24th December, 2014 (when the official price announcement will be made) will be priced in a range of 400,000 Bht to 550,000 Bht.

Fantastic news for both classic and ADV riders. Have yet to read a review of the new XCX or head to head comparison with the F800GS but will be interested to see the results. One benefit over the Thai maunafactured BMW I hope will be standard suspension and seat height!

Thats it then. After waiting nearly 4 months for my Kalamata F800GS and then told when i asked they have none left I'm pulling my deposit and heading to Triumph. Great news. The XCX sounds very good. Fully adjustable WP suspension! Crap colour choices the only let down.

Black and white models both look good. Just noticed there's cruise control too! Useful for those of us with long highway stretches before hitting the dirt.

Looks wise, this bike reminds me of the F800GSA more than the standard GS.

Yes massively good news ,,,,expect Bonneville to be reduced to around 400k to match Kawasaki Z800 and Ducatis ,

Triumph have huge unused production capacity after cncelling 250 model ,,makes sense to sell more bikes here should easily be able to shift over 1000 in a year instead of less than 200 , last year ducati sold 2658 bikes in Thailand

The Thai at the top says bikes will be delivered in February and the deposit for a Scrambler is 50K and a T100/Thruxton 20K, suggesting the high price of the Scrambler isn't a typo... Weird :hmm

First review I've read of the new bikes, thanks. I've watched a few of the Triumph video ads for the XCx including this one

If you read the small print at the end Triumph states their bikes are for the street only. It reminded me of this thread I read on ADVRider: Triumph CEO says 800XC for "light offroad use" - ADVrider

Is this normal? Doesn't inspire me with confidence :hmm

Triumph Tiger 800 XR 485,000. That will have BMW scratching their heads.

prices are still 20% higher than UK ,, must be local excise duty or higher dealer profits

Yes the Bonnie starts at 340,000 Baht in the UK, it should be even cheaper here as its made here

Colin, do you believe that Thailand does not raise tax on a Triumph in Thailand because it is made here??

Thailand raises following taxes:
Excise tax = 30 %
Interior tax = 10 % of excise tax
VAT = 7 %

And that's tax on domestic made bikes, imported bikes also face an initial 80% import duty.

Marcel I believe there is import tax and VAT to pay on bikes entering the UK.

Heres a selection of Uk prices (in Thai Baht) on bikes made in Thailand.
Honda aren't taking the piss with their Thailand prices so why are some the others?
All of these bikes should be cheaper in Thailand than in the UK

Versys 335,000
Vulcan 300,000
ER-6n 270,000
ER-6n ABS 290,000
Bonneville 340,000

CB 500R 275,000

Latest pricing from Brit Bike Triumph, picked up the price list from Tu today. That Bonneville at 420,000 Bht looks great value. The reduced priced, Triumph Tiger 800 "X's" will start arriving in May 2015, sounds like there's a huge waiting list.

The photos in the ad show a miles per hour speedo with 3865 miles. Seller obviously did the conversion to kilometers.

Possibly an personal import?

What am I missing?
I am not sure about the price 8 years ago, was Britbikes already up and running by than?

Fact is that after the significant price drop a lot of original buyers were left in the cold, they will need to severely bleed to drop their second hand sales prices in order to reflect current market situation.

Seeing on FB some Thai riders have picked up their new Tiger's from RCA in BKK. One rider quoted insurance from Thai Sri at 25,422฿.

Dont really understand the guy trying to sell an 8 year old Bonneville T100 for 550,000 Bht 2nd hand with 6,000 km on it? New bike is 480,000 Bht? What am I missing??? Classic value? Collectors model??

Ad is here:

??? Triumph Bonneville T100 ?? 2007 ...... 2007 Triumph Bonneville T100 for sale

...

Your missing an unhappy buyer caught out by the changed tax deal..

I saw a guy on facebook selling one at high 5xx something also.. I pointed out the new price and that it needed to be about 200k lower to sell and he started trying to say that its a 'made in hinkley' uk one.. While I understand some of the higher end triples (rockets etc) are assembled in hinkley all the twins were made here and exported I am pretty sure.

I heard it mentioned that the early models all had speedos in mph to keep with the fact that they were a British yesteryear throwback
