A lot of people are carrying HTC or Iphones that have the ability to be a wifi hotspots (3G in - wifi out), so you can connect the Kindle Fire to the internet (via the phone) anywhere that the phone has cellular signal.

I've ordered 2.

Retail release November 15th

Shame no GPS...

Personally my phone is more than enough for email / skype / etc.. Touring is to get away from being connected.

If im gone for a few days, I can't stand looking at webpages on that tiny phone screen, especially weather maps (any webpage for that matter)

I understand.. But for weather I just look up ;)

I agree these are just the right size and superb price.. I also have read Amazon have said they will not lock the bootloader and are not going to hinder anyone 'rooting' the device to put on stock android.. Opens up a lot of options for hacking it and I expect CryogenMod and or XDA will both have upgraded and customs ROM's as soon as it hits the market.
