Still closed last week (October 2013)

Two thumbs up for Apple Resort. In October the cafe was closed and they charged 800 baht for AC room. This is the view of the main road looking WSW towards the temple from my porch. Directly across the river is an internet cafe. I met the owner, a tough little gal from CM who was there adding on a new cafe and bakery building - herself! She told me the wood slab used for the bathroom counter was from a log floating out of Burma that she pulled out of the river. Really liked the extra large separate tiled off shower stall.

Stayed at Apple resort last night... low season prices are 1300/night for the A/C room with view, or (what I went for) the bungalow fan room for 500/night. On site restaurant is pretty decent and has a great riverside view. Staff speaks enough english to get the idea of anything you need to convey and are very friendly & helpful. Beds somewhat hard, but the bathroom is fairly large for the price. Overall it was a great stay for 500 baht...

Well, the price of the rooms at the Apple Resort seems to be fluctuating quite a bit as last week I paid 1000 Baht for a bungalow with view and aircon. They do have now, besides the restaurant, also a coffee shop and bar in between the restaurant and the bungalows.

and ample parking space in front of the coffeeshop

This year i been 2 times in the new Newton Guesthouse, it is on the place of the old Kwans Guesthouse, in front of the bridge left side.
Now it is very nice and cheap. The rooms are only 350 baht with TV, hot shower. A big Singha in the restaurant 65 baht, very good and cheap food.
The staff is friendly but speak only a little bite english, better you speak thai with them.
