I don't think this is a hoax, looks like Alan Davies from Baan Ricky (MX / Enduro Kanchanaburi) has passed away.
From his FB page:
I am absolutely stunned by this news, me and Taff had so much in common and he spent hours talking through his problems with me and my wife. When I had an almost fatal accident on my road bike in 2002 it took me a year to get back on a bike and then Taff persuaded me it would be good to enter the Yorkshire Rally of Discovery, just to meet old friends and get some confidence on the bike back. He'd look after me and ride with me! We ended up coming first and second, I was first because I got an extra point for being over 50, and my confidence was back.
My daughter, Emma, has so many great memories of Taff at WTRA events especially when he was her "chaperone" on trips to the rugby club.
Everyone who knew him will have so many great and funny stories, he was a very special friend.
God bless you Taff, RIP mate, you will be greatly missed.
There are many more tributes on his FB page too.
