In the past, overstaying on a Thai immigration visa meant a 500 Bht a day fine at the airport when you left Thailand & that was the end of it.
3 days ago a friend re-entered Thailand & had overstayed on his previous exit, on re-entry, this showed up in the computer on the way back into Thailand at Suvarnabhumi airport immigration and they made a big deal out of it. Currently just non-backed up threats but worth thinking about.
