Some of you keen mappers might be interested in this:-

Johnny Carlsen has sent you a message through OpenStreetMap with the subject Invitation to Open Data Day 2014 in Chiang Mai:

==

Dear Mapper,

This Saturday, Feb 22, is the International Open Data Day, and you are invited.

To celebrate this, we have setup an event in Chiang Mai at Punspace/OpenDream.

Officially we start at 09:00 and continue until 17:00, but in reality people will come and go throughout the day. Everyone is welcome, and no technical skills are required.

You are encouraged to start your own project and get people involved, but it is recommended that the project can be atleast partially successful at the end of the day.

One team have announced that they will be working with data related to air polution in Chiang Mai, and another team will focus on projects related to OpenStreetMap. There may be other projects that I am not aware of.

The current projects for OpenStreetMap are:

Introduction to OpenStreetMap (non-technical) Introduction to the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) (non-techinal) Mapping for one of the HOT projects (non-technical) Introduction to OpenStreetMap data (technical) Working with OpenStreetMap data using Python (technical)

Several people from the OpenStreetMap community will be present, so if you want to meet other mappers, get some help or help others, then this is a good opportunity.

You do not need to register for the event, there is no entrance fee, and you are not required to stay for the whole day or participate in any projects.

Chiang Mai Open Data Day is announced on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1477629742464594

The location is at Punspace/OpenDream which can be found here: OpenStreetMap mlat=18.79345&mlon=98.97245#map=19/18.79345/98.97245

This is what it looks like on Google Street View, though the photo is a bit old: http://goo.gl/maps/23RO9

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Johnny Carlsen
