Nong Kiew to Luang Praubang off-road is a really nice days ride. Allow a minimum of 5 hours moving time. What is most unique about this off-road is that it is all weather riding and actually improves with rainfall.
From Nong Kiew head east on Hwy 1C. It takes 1 1/2 hours to reach your turn off point at Samsoum.
Samsoum to Pak Xeng takes around 2 hrs. This section runs along a ridge line winding the way down to Pak Xeng. Here there is fuel, water and food.
Pak Xeng to Viengsavan takes around 1 to 1 1/2 hours it is flat country following the Nam Xeng river. At Viengsavan you meet Hwy 13, 15km north of Luang Praubang.
