A few days free until a few of us were tied up or off back to work, so time for some exploring

First real big ride for Jim's new BMW S 1000 RR, which still has the 6,000rpm restrictor on it until first service is done

All pretty fast bikes with long legs, so we can do some long days without much trouble, below is what we ended up doing

No Rain on R 1251/ R 1091 eastwards to Nan, pretty lucky in late July

Into Nan pretty early and a quick look around Wat Pumin

If you've never been in there while visiting Nan, highly recommended. The historical murals show topics such as the European invasion, all very interesting.

BNW GH oppsite Tony's Place, Nan is always a favorite - 500 Bht and great beds

North of Bo Kluea, we went exploring around the border, as expected the roads became broken, but great rainy season views

We decided to turn around here, the S 1000 RR was overheating from mud sprayed into its radiator and the slow speeds

The overheating on the S 1000 RR was getting serious now. We found some water buckets and managed to wash some of the mud out

P_20150721_155015.jpg by Triangle Golden 007, on Flickr

Combination of the cold water and the mud removed, it did then run cooler

The Shell station in Nan, around the corner from Tonys Place has 95 Benzine which pleases many

Are you sure about that? I've been of the opinion that Shell don't have it but a "V Power Nitro + Gasahol 95" that they charge extra for.

http://www.eppo.go.th/retail_prices.php

http://www.shell.co.th/en/products-services/on-the-road/fuels/shell-fuel-prices.html

I ride straight past them and look elsewhere for it although mine happily burns Gasahol but i never leave it stored with it in it.

Not that i don't believe you but i wouldn't believe them.

I'd be checking if it was a yellowy colour and if around 36-37 baht/L it might well be but Shell don't even have 95 RON listed on their website.

The BMW S 1000 RR still not happy and overheating, Jim looking around in the bushes as to how to turn the hose on

Cold and wet - A roast dinner waiting for us a Tonys Place. There was silence, it was like a pride of lions feeding on a giraffe
