Mae Chaem to Chiang Mai the back way

From Hot on R 108 north to Chiang Mai is a boring trip, there's still lots of bottle necks and slow going. I took the slower back road route back to Chiang Mai, which is an interesting route.

Heading south on R 1088 (NW of Mae Chaem), some great clear views after a rain shower

Through Mae Chaem and the views continue, the rain has cleared the air up

Everything still traditional out there

This route was paved all the way, but roads were in bad condition. Here R 1284 1/2 gone.

Indeed that 1284 & the top end of the 1013 have broken up really badly, I drove it a few weeks ago , such a shame after having been such a great route.
