Thought it might be worthwhile to start a thread containing off-road competitions/events around the area as it doesn't seem to be very well advertised anywhere.
To be honest Ive never been to an event like motocross, enduro and trials. Really keen to go along and have a look though. I noticed Max mentioning a route for the next NOB ride still having arrows/markers, was this for an Enduro event or something? Would be interesting to see what kind of routes they choose for competitions, maybe if I could pluck enough courage up - eventually enter one - maybe...how about a NOB Enduro team?

Does anyone have any info/links for local events?

Maybe it could become a central hub for events going on, in and around Chiang Mai

Yeah events seem to never have much pre publicity and operate on a bamboo network / grapevine..

Would be great o know of things (well) in advance.. Eg I really want to make it to the next soapbox hilltribe derby..

Yes indeed, difficult. You have to do 1, (I don´t know where + how to find it in this momemt), then the boys will come with some flyers for the next weekend and the next weekend and the next weekend and the .... It works, if you are allways on the race every sunday. But latest when I go back to europe, I´m out of business. Because after the return, it takes weeks/month to find a cycle cross again. In Jogging events, what they call Mini-Marathon, it works in the same system. A good place to ask for competions is the Moto Cross Shop next Phil´s Riders Corner and Khun (Mr.)Amnat (tel.053-271088, 081-76433776, 081-7163009 speaks quite good english) The Nos. are 2 years old, try all.
The tracks are allmost on an empty ricefield with some jumps. Thaipeople call it cycle cross and it comes offen with the local temple festival. There are not many real enduros.
A good advice is, follow some pickups with cross or endurobikes at friday, saturday evening or sunday morning. In 99% they are going to the track and the guys are allways lucky and curious about some farangs and you are invided at once to test the track. And you will be surprised, how f-------g fast a Honda Dream is on a dirttrack.

Johnny, its funny I was discussing this with Phil the other day about having a NOB enduro team. I think it would be a great laugh to enter them and have a blast with the grass roots racing scene up here.
There are quite a few enduro races held up here. The northen enduro championship has about 5 rounds per year, aswell as plenty other locally organized enduro's. Notably in Phrae where there is a pretty big enduro scene. I am well keen to do these events I will find out from friends when they are taking place and advertise them up here....

Lots of enduro racing going on in the North. Raced Amnat's NIM Championship this past weekend in Maejo with our "TW Team" and had a great time with two entrants in ED3 and second place in Supercup Family.

Amnat puts on an excellent race and the 5km endurocross/enduro loop at the VIP track was really really well thought-out. There will be 5 NIM championship races over the next 7 months or so.

Also plenty of smaller enduros - Mae Sai in two weeks, for example:

Wow that looks pretty well organised. Its a pity it doesn't get publicised correctly. More info on the races/meetings would be good AlexUSA please.

Quite a bit of talk about these races on the weekend hobby and dirttrackthai messageboards. As we are in Thailand, publicity will generally be in Thai language but here's the thread on the NIM ??????????? Series including full race schedule, classes, and pictures - http://www.weekendhobby.com/enduro/webb ... 1&id=26663

K. Amnat's contact info is at the top of the thread and I believe he speaks some english.

Some dates..

I think it's fairly easy to find all those events. Most events can be found as AlexUSA mentioned on those 2 websites:

On dirttrackthai there is a "race" section under" ??????? / ?????????? / ???????" (it also includes a lot of trip reports):
http://www.dirttrackthai.com/smf/index.php?board=4.0

Also on WeekendHobby under the enduro section:

Some other flyers you can found shared on Facebook like this one in May in Petchanboun (though it's a "cycle cross"):

Our workshop in Tung Sieo with a very fast Thai boy on an old XR gave me the info, that the next cycle cross will be at the 13th of may. Very close to the HW 108 between San Patong and Tung Sieo. :RO
