Last Man Standing with Sergei and Mike

Myself (Kiz), Mike and Sergei hit up LMS yesterday. A trail I've been keen to try for quite sometime due to the notorious reputation it seems to have.

Mike and I were both riding CRF250L's and Sergei was on his XR.

So, we started the trail and I immediately thought, 'this is easy, there's nothing to it' up until we got to the first big hill. (see video)

Christ it was a monster. A steep, rocky climb, tricky to say the least.

I eventually got the bike up, without grace, but up.

Mike had a nasty accident. He flipped the bike midway up and the heavy lump that is a CRF, landed on his leg, pinning it between a rock and the crank case. He could walk but wasn't comfortable to continue riding the trail. Hopefully it's not fractured and is just muscle bruising. He's going to get an x-ray to be sure.

Anyway, me and Sergei soldiered on. My fitness (or lack of) was becoming an issue as I gasped for air after every climb. Sergei seems to be some kind of solar powered machine running completely oblivious to the notion of exhaustion.

turns out that Mike probably made the right choice in turning back, as it definitely didn't get any easier. Plenty of steep climbs laced with fallen leaves, protruding tree roots and even more rocks scarred with the paint of motorcycle engine cases.

We did eventually make it to the top, a great sense of accomplishment!

The CRF250L continues to impress me and for a dual-sport road bike in dirt bike dress, it really does do well in the most extreme situations. However, the moment you stop or drop the bike it's obese nature quickly reminds you that it shouldn't be there and having to man handle a 140kg machine in tricky terrain is frustrating to say the least.... Next time I will take the 2banger!

A big top of the hat to you getting up on CRF 250 L's with standard gearing! Towards the top, did you go right or take the nasty trail straight on/ left?? I wonder how many time you could do this trail on one set of clutch plates??

We both run 14/52 on our CRF's, not sure I could get one up on stock gearing without blowing a clutch.

I think we went left, I'll have to get the map link from Sergei. It seemed to get worse and worse after the big climb in the video.
