Hi guys, I want to know exactly which year my CBR500R was built, not when it was first registered as it shows in the papers. I bought a used model with 2015 graphics and only 1,300km on the clock but some plastic parts have a 2013 stamp on it. The previous owner bought it in February 2014 which confuses matters even more. I want to check the frame number to see which year it actually is.
Do you know any sites?

Example CB500X VIN = MLHPC46U4D5000001

Decoding the VIN Characters and their meanings (links at bottom to my research on this)

1 - 3 = WMI (World Manufacturer ID) - MLH
ML= Thailand, H = Honda

4 - 8 = Vehicle Identifier - PC46U
P = 450cc - 649cc, C = road motorcycle, 46U = CB500X (45U is an F and 44U is an R model)

9 = check digit only and will vary based on your whole VIN

10 = year
D =2013 or E=2014

11 = Location of plant that affixes the VIN
5

12 - 17 = Sequential Production Number
000001 - number one in the production

Thanks fantic for the info!
I don't have the book here at work but it should be a 2014 because of the red front fender and tail piece, and because it was registered in Feb 2014.
But why does it say 2013 in the book in the upper right corner of page 4? Is it a '13 model registered in '14? But the '13 model is white!
And why do most parts have a 2013 stamp on it if it has '14 graphics?

Okay, I got it figured out! Well, almost. It's a 2014 model according to the VIN so the red parts are stock. I was afraid that it was a '13 model with '15 parts, which can be quickly and cheaply done but then the tank has the newer graphics - who would go to that expense?
I googled "2014 CBR500R" and got lots of '13 model pics; when I entered "2015 CBR500R" I got mostly the new look; by now I know that '14 and '15 models have the same graphics.
It was a bit difficult to figure out when the bike was registered because of the different year system and the months are written in Thai which I can't read. So I had to ask for a translation.
The seller advertised it as a 2015 which isn't cool; I believed him because of the "new" graphics and the low mileage, 1,288km.
Why it says "2013" in the book I still don't know! The bike was registered in Feb 2014 and is not a '13 model, so?
But I'm happy it's not a '13, it doesn't need a valve check and the bike is running fine. It's a big step up from my CRF250M!
