Had this problem a few years ago when I did a tidy up.. Tried 3 or so different, cooker proof, high temp, 1000 degree, etc branded black paints for the exhaust before I found one that held up and didnt go white. Stupidly I dont remember who made it.

Rich at Richco told me to get 'the one in home pro' but couldnt find the can to show me.. Homepro had a hammerite brand black high temp but one ride and its gone.

Anyone know a brand here that actually works on headers ??

Probably none on headers.

I think Nana screw has some high temp paint.

Last time round I finally found one that held.. So it does exist..

I mean, new bikes come with painted headers..

Sure they paint them but what does it look like now?

Just goes grey / white with the bad ones...

After a couple of tries Noi at BikeArt in Phuket found one that held up..

I've never found a "1000 degree paint" spray that held up on the headers.

On the muffler, yes, on the pipe into the muffler, yes, engine cases, no problems, but on the headers - no.

I sprayed several thin layers and started the engine to "bake them in" with slightly better results but long term - no.

Factory is obviously a different story but even new black headers don't stay black long.

Stainless steel is the way to go! :)
