"Helmet awareness campaign held by Don’t Drive Drunk Foundation
Free helmets for kids
Nopniwat Krailerg
The Don’t Drive Drunk Foundation has joined forces with the Head Awareness Club and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation to launch a campaign to raise awareness of the need for children on motorcycles to wear helmets. Dr. Taejing Siripanich, M.D. Secretary of Don’t Drive Drunk Foundation said that only 7% of children and youth wear a helmet while on a motorcycle and of adults only 43% wear helmets.
Dr. Taejing said that there are two main factors that are the result of such a low rate of helmet usage for children; parents who believe that it is not dangerous for their children on the bike and that police will not enforce helmet laws against children because they are concerned for their public image.( !!!!

The helmet project, which includes the distribution of 1,000 free helmets for children, will be implemented in other provinces after the initial launch in Chiang Mai.
The “Head Awareness Campaign” was launched on May 26, 2014 at the Child Development Center of Suthep Municipality, Muang district, Chiang Mai. They will distribute 1,000 children’s helmets for free to youth in Chiang Mai."
