This time the plan is to head more north towards Mae La Noi (22km north of Mae Sariang) & try and find trails westwards that will link up to the main north -south trail that goes to Ban Sao Hin.

Below is the trials that were actually done

This was all being done blind, basically using the gps as a compass. We'd looked on google earth but was might have been trails westwards were actually river beds. Some of the trails west had been concreted

A cool little home made bridge

About 20km west of Mae La Noi, i came to this village entrance. With the barrier, had all the makings of a Tai Yai refugee camp

Interesting stick bridge crossing westwards towards the village

Over the bridge and the village appears in the distance

Beautiful old Wat in the village

The trails westwards again turn into river beds....I go about 10 km, seeing no signs of activity and turn back

Some really beautiful views of the river from the hills, the area is obviously all farm land

Up another trail further north and reach the Mae Yuam wildlife sanctuary which is across a suspension bridge

Bridge looks pretty sturdy

I wasn't stopped & there is a fantastic single track trail running north along the river (on the western side of the river) then runs NW....would be great to see how far it goes

Back across the bridge and poke around a bit further north up the Mae Yuam river and what do we have here? - Another suspension bridge (we've got these all mapped for Auke)

This one looked much less used and over grown

Great rural views

Not just burning the fields --all the trash burnt here too leaving thousands of glass bottles

Back into Mae Sariang -- looks like this ornate gutted building has a story to tell

On the way back beautiful views along the Nam Mae Chaem river, with the locals restaurants in the river

Now -- there maybe a trail that continues W/NW from this point. I was running low on fuel and daylight, so didn't get a chance to explore it, maybe something for Max & Alex to scout.

It would be following the river bed and MAY link up with the trail north to Ban Sao Hin, would be great if it does. I have the waypoint of the turn.
