Well ~ looks like the "DAKAR does the Andes" for 2017 = http://www.dakar.com ++++ https://www.facebook.com/dakar as the official 2017 route announcement was made today...

Edition 39 of the Dakar (2 – 14 January 2017) will be contested in three countries. Following Paraguay, which will make its debut on the Dakar route, will be a long stay in Bolivia before the rally moves on to the mixed terrains of its most loyal South American host country, Argentina…

Unconditional travellers relish the pleasure of staring at the pages of their passports filled with new customs stamps. It is the same story for the Dakar whose long history will welcome, in 2017, a 29th host country. Paraguay's capital city Asunción will have the honour of hosting the start for the hundreds of vehicles expected. Paraguay has already gotten a taste of rally-raid action with the Desafío Guaraní. But now it will experience the thrill of the big send off and the delight of getting to offer its encouragements to the competitors for this 9,000km journey, half of which will consist of unprecedented routes and tracks.

Following a short detour into Argentina, the rally will head towards Bolivia, for the fourth consecutive year, with a much more in depth exploration of its different regions. With five stages in Bolivia, the riders and crews will face off for example on the shores of Lake Titicaca, and will enjoy the rest day (at nearly 4,000 metres above sea level) in the highest altitude capital city in the world, La Paz.

The second week will take on an Argentinean accent of twists and turns and contrasts in terrain. This will be the ninth visit by the Dakar to Argentina. The unwavering loyalty of the country's supporters will, once again, help riders and crews reach the ultimate objective of their adventure. The third capital city on the 2017 route, Buenos Aires will host the finish of the rally for the fifth time.....

Some Dakar racers will compete in the Silk Way Rally 2016 = http://www.silkwayrally.com

Buoyed by its most recent Dakar victory, Team Peugeot Total is preparing to embark upon a new challenge – that of taming the formidable Silk Road by competing on the Silk Way Rally, an event that traces a famously gruelling route from Moscow to Beijing. Just under a year on from the China Silk Road Rally – which saw Peugeot claim a one-two finish – and following the 2016 Dakar Rally that was won by Stéphane Peterhansel / Jean-Paul Cottret, Team Peugeot Total is preparing for more cross-country rally action in China.

Off the back of its Dakar victory in January, Peugeot is preparing to take on another colossal challenge in the form of the legendary Moscow-to-Beijing Silk Way Rally (July 8-24, 2016).

Sidenote: somehow tempting to head out having a look if time permits during July but no motorcycle racing in the Silk Way Rally 2016....

http://www.zongshenracing.com/en/rally-raid/ and http://www.zongshenracing.com/en/direct-live/

We might see some "Can't Friggin' Move" (CFMoto) and "Shiteray" (Shineray) bikes competing in the future years, bring it on as might be good for a few serious laughs and wish them best of luck to make it all the way to the finish line ~ 'nuff said....

Zongshen 450RR Cyclone ~ Smokin' hot during Dakar 2017.....
They call them bikes Zongshen 450RR Cyclone that all failed by now but four out of the five ZS bikes are re-badged kitted out Yamaha WR450's (JVO) ~ Dakar Rally history repeats itself like in the past with Jincheng rebadging rally replica bikes.... 'nuff said....
