Hi all,

Last December I did a round the Java island trip for 16 days. With so little time I focus my adventure around East Java. It was my third tour d'East Java where previously in 2014 I travel the northern part, 2015 the western part, and the last one was southern part of East Java. East Java is magnificent place for riding with so much road variations and attractions along the routes.

So I divided my trip into 3 main legs:

Leg 1 from Jakarta to Malang city
Leg 2 traveling around East Java
Leg 3 returning from East Java to Jakarta

Leg 3

The trip was an achievement for me since it completes my journeys throughout the Java island (after several years). At this trip I managed to reach the most eastern point of Java island at the Alas Purwo National Park, to complete my trip to the most western point of the island at the Cilintang post of the Ujung Kulon National Park in West Java, awesome!

Some of the very interesting experience during this trip:

1. Beating the traffic at the Bekasi and Karawang area, took me 5 hours to travel 200km towards the Pantura Road

2. Enjoying the technical rides of Central Java between Cirebon and Madiun, through Kajen, Dieng, Solo and Tawangmangu, was raining all the way

3. Visiting three national parks at East Java, i.e.: Alas Purwo, Meru Betiri and Bromo-Tengger-Semeru

4. Visiting the Kawah Wurung area near Ijen. It's a new attraction, a very beautiful landscape, a paradise!

5. Visiting the B29 peak and of course Bromo.

Here's some pictures....

Tawangmangu sarangan is my homebase, after that topple tree there is a cork screw corner.you got interesting route but seems like you missed pacitan wonogiri via alternative route, thats the best part on that area.i called it the tail of the dragon route.

Yes Tawangmangu Sarangan were amazing scenic routes! Beautiful! I don't know whether I passed through the route you mentioned between Pacitan and Wonogiri. After Pacitan I headed direct to Ponorogo then Yogyakarta. A friend took another road after Ponorogo that he said was very curvy and empty road. Should have taken that alternative.

At Tawangmangu I stopped by for coffee at a nice little coffee shop right after the Balekambang park, forgot the name. Nice place.

Wow, what a great trip! I did a loop around West & Central Java back in October, and I think Java is much underrated as a great place to motorcycle tour.

Agree with you, Java is underrated for moto tours. The charm of Eastern Indonesia is so strong as main destination.

Well, so many attractions around this beautiful country. With limited time one should decide where to travel most during in Indonesia.

Salam kenal pak Joko_Londo :)

Fantastic photos Rendra. Java is a blank page for me. I have to change that. The reason why I haven't been riding there is traffic. But there must be backroads so you can avoid the busiest sections. I am definitely going to HU meeting in May. Catch up there maybe.
