Cheap Motorcycle Apparel in Chiang Mai

Luke had been telling me about the super cheap motorcycle apparel shop on Sri Donchai road in Chiang Mai (the road off the south east corner of the city moat square that heads to Pantip Plaza / Night Bazaar)

The shop is called "Helmet2home" & is half way down Sri Donchai road on the LHS if heading east towards Panthip Plaza

This is what the shop looks like from the street

This one taken with the Garmin Montana Geotagging gps's camera (not bad)

Re: Cheap Motorcycle Apparel in Chiang Mai

Good deals for sure. Alpinestars Tech 3's for 7,000-8,000 last time I was shopping for boots.

The same guy owns at least two more branches of this store:

A fairly large one is on Changpeuak near the bus station in a run-down looking tent sort of market.

A smaller selection is hidden in the back of the Rincome market. I got an insane deal on some real Fox Bomber MX gloves at this one. Dirtshop sells them for 2,300+ and he was selling for 850 baht until he ran out.

Re: Cheap Motorcycle Apparel in Chiang Mai

Also masses of gloves there, handguards(maybe round the back, ask) and cheap headlights

Superbike shop in Chiang Mai

New place just north of the Chiang Mai moat square, east of R 107, that seems to specialize in race bikes and tires, they had a huge supply of Pirelli slick tires in the shop.

anybody have the phone number for the honda shop on [h=2]Charoen Muang road ?[/h][h=2][/h]

Starting my travels fro CM in Dec, does the Helmet2home shop do off road trousers? If so, are they any good and what price am I looking at to get a pair. I need some more and just wondering if better to buy in the UK or get them in CM
Thx

You can buy almost all your riding gear at Helmet2home but most of it is Chinese copies but if your ditching your gear at the end of the trip probably your best bet. As for off road pants i would invest in some Klim Mojave pants, last a life time and cool.

Thanks for the advice

Are the Klim pants a large fit ( i take a 34 but thinking of getting them as a 36 for more room)?

KTMPhil,

Have you tried the Arai helmets on at Chang Moto? I'm curious if the fit is the same as the fit of all Arai helmets at 786 Moto Group (http://786motogroup.com). According to the folks at 786 Moto Group, they are the largest Arai dealer in Thailand. I currently own an Arai Tour-X 4 that I bought in Germany. It fits my head really well. I have an oval shaped head (looking straight down at the top of my head). I tried on numerous Arai helmets at 786 Moto Group and absolutely none of them fit regardless of what size I tried on. All of the Arai helmets they sell are made for round heads.

I bought an Arai Tour-X 3 from earlier this year and had to go up one size to XL from my old Arai size L which was one of the original Tour-X helmets. Helmet sizes definitely not the same as European sizes.
