Total Distance 126 km

I noticed while riding alongside the irrigation canal that goes through Chiang Mai from the Mae Taeng river that there was no water flowing so decided to ride to the Mae Taeng to see it running normally.
I take the 107 for quite a way then a left onto the 4054 for a quiter ride and to explore some new roads for the first time

Along the 4235 and what was dirt on my previous ride now has this lovely new section of asphalt stretching north until N19 07.849 E098 55.200.
Here I take a right and its a dirt track as before until I cross the irrigation canal

To my annoyance I see the water is flowing along the canal up here

I am now standing on the weir in the middle of the Mae Taeng river and looking upstream, the visions I had of it flowing over the weir didnt happen and it looks like it hasnt flowed over for quite some time.
I must visit here again in october to see how it looks then

This was a pleasant ride, I didnt plan on doing any offroad today as I dont want to get my lovely clean bike dirty before handing it over to its guardian while I am back in England
DSCF6650.jpg

I was surprised to see water flowing along here
DSCF6651.jpg

Thats where its coming from and there must be a reservoir up there

A pleasant final ride for this holiday.
On the way back I follow the Canal and its an unmade surface between N19 06.531 E098 55.514 and N19 06.414 E098 55.419

This was my final mileage for this holiday which started on 10th november when I bought the KLX brand new.
Its below my usual mileage but a lot of this trip has been offroad

Only 24,000 km for the riding season, we were all way off Colin by not factoring in how much dirt you'd be doing!

Nice conclusion to the riding season.......

24,344 is pretty good bearing in mind the amount of off road / trail riding Colin was doing.

But the most amazing thing is the amount of tracks Colin added to the maps available for all riders.

You're good with these reports Cap /. The usual complements: just like being there, I like the obligatory food photo, the animal shots. It's clear the Thais like water irrigation projects (also consistent with what I've read from a book on Thailand); looks like some money was spent and concrete poured on water management projects. Merry (Dreary?) Old England awaits you now...good luck!
