Mae Win, Chiang Mai

Mae Win, Chiang Mai

The Karen Eco Lodge about 1km NE of Mae Win looks a very interesting place to stay. Reasonably fancy, near the Elephant parks, rooms im told are about 1,000 bht a night.

Karen Hill Tribe lodge

Sprawling rice fields, deep green valleys, lush jungle and meandering rivers: the view from the balcony of the Karen Hill Tribe Lodge is unforgettable. Set to a dramatic mountain backdrop, from here you'll see no buildings, roads or power lines. Don't forget your camera.

Built in the traditional Karen Hill tribe style using local pine and bamboo, the lodge interiors have been kitted out with European-style home comforts to make your stay as relaxing as possible. Unlike some of the other accommodation in the area, here you can enjoy your incredibly peaceful location while relaxing in the knowledge that hot water, electricity, comfortable beds and built-in mosquito nets await you after a long day on elephant back.
Keren Hill Tribe Lodge Features

7 twin rooms
3 double rooms
Every room is equipped with comfortable bedding, electric lighting, fans and mosquito nets.
Every room has a private bathroom with a hot shower
Atmospheric dining area, using fresh local produce as well as supplies from Chiang Mai

Re: Mae Win, Chiang Mai

Morning Phil,

Those 2 last pictures are of the Hill Tribe Lodge very near the village of Wat Chan. Nice place, though not as nice in person as the websites pictures. They are very friendly there though, giving my son and I a tour of the lodge, informing us they don't normally accept drop in's for a nights stay. At 12,000 baht for a 2 night package I guess not.

Top North Hotel Chiang Mai

I'm sorting a group tour for a 3 night stay in CM in December and am looking at the Top North...... just want somewhere cheap 'n' cheerful, nothing fancy, but with adequate parking as we may have up to 15 baggers....... we do tend to take up a bit of space!
Has anyone stayed here? It's the hotel actually on Moon Muang road near Tha Phae Gate, not the (now) pretty grotty guest house down a couple of lanes off the south east corner of the old city.
I personally always use the Lai Thai but wanted somewhere a wee bit more spacious for the tour..... anyone any info on the place please? Or any recommendations for a decent clean hotel around 800 baht/night with off street parking close to Tha Phae Gate?
Cheers.

Re: Top North Hotel Chiang Mai

Martin - for the size of your group, you might be able to cut a deal in the Raming Lodge on Loh Kroh road (still in a great location with secure parking), it's one of the best value fancy hotels in Chiang Mai

They have a published low season promotion of 1,600 Bht incl. breakfast, for the size of your group i'm sure you could get a great deal this time of year.

Re: Top North Hotel Chiang Mai

Cheers Phil, I'll give 'em a buzz. However, we're staying at the height of high season over the Chiang Mai Bike Weekend so I think everywhere's going to be charging top dollar.

Near Riders Corner, Triple Palms House

A new Guest House just around the corner from Riders Corner with plenty of room options at very fair prices.
Parking for bikes (not cars) off street on the premises and the gate is locked and night security is employed.

Free WiFi and coffee in Reception and pleasant outdoor eating/meeting area.
Friendly staff. Manager ('Golf') speaks good English and knows Chiang Mai very well.
Very favourable reviews.

Montha Hotel

Swiss-owned hotel, spotlessly clean rooms located near many bars and restaurants, free tea and coffee with a new German restaurant annexed to the hotel.

Hotel Montha, Chiang Mai, Thailand

Highly recommended, rooms start at 750 baht a night including free wifi.

The Montha what Bob stayed at looks a great place, the only downside I can see is the car park is outside and bikes are therefore exposed to the whether.

The German restaurant gets a 10 out of 10, so good went back the next day.
