Had a firm plan to head to the Omkoi region with David Bailey who might be the most reliable person on earth. After 250km riding down from Chiang Khong all packed and ready to go, he stops in Chiang Dao, bites into a frozen Magnum chocolate lolly and cracks a tooth in half and can't go.

So, after already negotiating/ bargaining a free pass, it would be silly not to use it. I remembered it was Colin's last night in Nan, I called him to make sure, then headed to Nan on the road.

I asked him "which way do you want to come back to Chiang Mai?"

He said "1091 - 1251"

So it meant taking R 1148 there and the first time I had the Ducati Hypermotard 821 on R 1148

In sport mode, the Hypermotard is very snatchy on take off. I put the bike in touring mode, which keeps the 110HP configuration, but lengthens the fly-by-wire throttle throw.

This is going to be fun

The grass had been cut at the viewpoint, you no longer need to stand on the wall to take photo's

Dinner at Tony's Place in Nan, Marcusb and Nan resident was also around

Tony pulled off his usual culinary magic, a superb steak and ale pie that could have fed 4 people

A very chilly morning in Nan, a quick meander along the Nan river

Headed south along the Nan river, you see the enormous structure of Wat Chedi co-ords:

All packed and ready to head back to Chiang Mai, Colin was basically moving house after a couple of months after collecting new map data in Nan.

The light playing havoc with the photo, but you can see he's fully loaded

The viewpoint on R 1091 was pretty hazy due to it still being early in the day

R 1091 - R 1251 - R 1021 to Phayao - then the sweeping R 120 superbike road

Nan and back is probably the best 2 day road ride you can do.

Interesting, new, traditional style building has been erected, not quite sure what it will be yet

Hope it's a coffee stop.

That Ducati looks fantastic on those roads.

You can find him on.

Coming from Chiang Mai, heading east on R 1091 into Nan, at the traffic light with the famous mural-led Wat Pumin on your right, make a left at that traffic light. At the Shell petrol station make a left and then first left into the Soi where Tony's Place is located.
