Phayo to Chumpae via chang kho khat dam
Again I was up Early and ready get going, the weather didn't look to clever and I thought he we go again more rain, but after about 30k's the sun appeared clearing the sky , I stopped for gas and some breakfast stocked up on sweets and lipo's and set of towards the Dam.
By now the sun was warming up and things where looking good for a great days riding....
Allow me to introduce the Steed...
Not much I know but I fell in Love with the old girl...Got it of Joe's bike team, I can recommend these guys to anybody wanting a well looked after Machine....
I found myself on this beautiful road, the 1022, I was flat out having a ball around the bendy bit's then I saw this sign and thought I would have a nose..
I went down a small trail but it was blocked so I headed back to the road and got stuck back into the bends again ,biking heaven...
The tarmac came to an end.....I had not ridden off road for a long time and was looking forward to it, after a bit I was sliding around, wheelspinning, wheeling and having an absolute hoot there was nobody around so it was fast as I dare time without crashing.....
I was going up and down mountain after mountain enclosed in fog, I was on my own planet, It just didn't seem to end, this is what I had come for, alone on the middle of no where riding a bike...I knew why I love bikes so much, they can take you places you dream of...
there was a couple of View points but due to the Fog there was not much to see...
Check out the bullet holes..
I cant tell you how much I was enjoying myself at this point, an amazing day..
At one of the view points I pulled over for a break.....then a few cows appeard from out of the hedge rows, followed by this chap...
Very odd fellow, just came and stood in front of me, looking me up and down, in my limited use of Thai I introduced myself ,a packet of biscuits later and we where best friends, he explained he own's the cows on the top of the mountain.......I had passed some cows right up the top and thought how remote the heard was, then meeting him I understood why, no offence old boy, it was an encounter that I will never forget and I thank him for giving me the time of day....I grabbed a few photos and headed off, I guessed the lakes in the background must have been where I was heading to.
The guy went and sat at the view point and ate his biscuit's, time to go...
This is what made my day..
I changed the plan as it was now about 2 oclock, it had taken me hrs to get through the mountains......there was no way I could top what i had just done so i decided to head for Chumpae, via Nakhon Thai, this was in and out of liitle villages, muddy tracks it was just to much fun to stop, Eventually I made it to route 12.
This was the Icing on my days cake, beutiful streach of Tarmac through so great views, I stopped for some coffe at this fantastic place, still got the tunes buzzing in my head from the old Jukebox......what a great place to stop and take it all in...
stunning country side....
Final push to the wifes would see me loose a foot peg, it was dark so it was out with my CSI torch and Into the road, it was pitch black and a little scary but I needed that peg, found it about 100 yards back up the road, lucky boy.
When I arrived there was a cold beer waiting, I could not explain how good my day had been, I just kept grinning..
The next few days I would spend with the wifes family, cousins, neibours, freinds , teachers kids and a Canadian bloke..
Being able to ride in Thailand is fantastic and being able to spend time with the Thai Family would leave me humbled...
What I did with the Family.....no bikes involved here..just a great time with my Thai family
First thing was to get a hair cut and go to the Doctor and get my back fixed..
Then it was pretty much relax and enjoy life in a small village with people who don't have a lot but are prepared to give you half of it...I mooched around took a few photo's whilst absorbing myself in Thai culture.
Did a bit of Fishing
Soon there where to be dinner..
Everybody mucked in
the food ans drink flowed, more people turned up and we all got pissed
the Canadian bloke...Mike
This is my brother inlaw showing me his Thai dancing..
His smile says it all.....
Could this trip get any better???
