Day 2 The Hot springs to Nan and back to Phayao
Got up at 6am and started packing ready for the off, this was the view of the day ahead..
looked a bit like how yesterday started.. Oh dear..
I set of and thing's got bleaker as I headed for the GT, no rain but cold and damp, never mind there was lot's to look at on route, then I got my first taste of unfinished Thai Roads......
This was slippery, but it was fun..... love the road marking's, after a short shower this soon became really hairy, but fun...I was laughing all the way down this road, it was a real buzz trying to keep upright....
I went back into town and had some food..
]
I looked at the map,the rain was getting harder, time to head South East toward Nan trying to avoid the major roads, I started to see a lot of accidents on straight roads?? 3 in total all trucks in ditches , the 4th was an artic jack knifed at a set of lights, he took loads of cars with him, my assumption was go steady when wet in Thailand. It appeared the weather was following me..
it was bleak and I was soaked through..
when I got to Pong I knew there was no way I would make Nan so I headed back to Phayao, I was shivering, then I saw the sun..
Then I got a sign from god..
could thing's be starting to turn for me...
Forever the optimist, I took it as a good omen..
It was dark by the time I saw a Thai hotel and decided this would do, I asked if they had any rooms in my best Thai, he Replied 150....but would do deal....I got 1 room for 500bt, air con, hot shower, another place I would not recommend but I was happy to be in the dry, I found a little restaurant and had a meal, the menu was all in Thai so I left there pretty hungry, I got a load of snacks from the 7-11 and retreated to the hotel, it looked like a laundrette with all my gear drying off . Phoned the wife and had a laugh about day, I was still doing what I wanted to do.....ride the bike..I thought that my luck was about to change....and it would..
