11 wr450 seems a bargain.

11 wr450 seems a bargain.

Probably because the 2012 wrf450 is a brand new bike: new frame, FI ...

Honda a Yamaha are great choices for here as the parts are very easy to get. Also those prices are much cheaper than anything you'll find on thai forums.

Sure but at 280 still seems cheap for a very late model machine with thai taxes..

He had a 12 model for IIRC 380..

Re the Thai taxes being paid, does that mean you can ride it on the public roads, but will be fined if stopped by police, but the bike wont be confiscated ?

If so, how much is the fine, or is it negotiable

You cant ride it across borders, but can transport it across on the back of a registered pickup etc ?

The whole legality of riding a bike on the road without a plate is sketchy.. Yes in the north you can get away with it for simply fines.. Try it on Phuket and you will lose the bike in very short order. Up here 500b should cover it providing both import and excise taxes can be shown to be paid.

I would doubt the border transportation would legally be so simple (unless your meaning smuggle it under a tarp).. Yes its got its Thai taxes paid, and I could see an argument for it being allowed in and out of Thailand (tho all the forms would want the number plate, it would be hard to explain) but then on the Laos or cambo side, it doesnt have its taxes paid there, and its not plated as a Rd vehicle to allow cross border rd use.. So that would be a tough one to legally do.
