The aim today was to locate this structure, seen from #1006 north of Doi Saket (zoom).
It has always intrigued me and I never found a track into it off #1006.

So today was to be the day.

First stop was up to the new Golden Buddha at Doi Saket where nice views are offered.

There is a lovely shaded area here with a small shop nearby selling cool drinks and snacks.
And I have found that even on the most humid days there is usually a cooling breeze.
Nice lunch stop. Quiet and peaceful.

They even have a small 'zoo'.

After the heavy rain the lakes at Nong Bua were bound to be full and they were.
Lots of Lotus flowers on display as well.

Then heading out from the lakes towards #118 I noticed an orphanage.

Along some minor tracks and I stumbled upon Wat Phrathat Doi Ku at

And look what I see in the background!!

Yes, the 'mysterious mansion' I had spotted from 1006.
There's a huge amount of building going on at this secluded Temple.

I think this is a statue of the revered Khru Ba Si Wichai.

After here, along a little lane-way, I spotted a magnificent timber mansion.
The wooden gate was locked as were the wooden shutter windows.
The gate was too big to see over so, in an attempt to please the readers of this honourable site, I stepped forward camera in ungloved hand, helmet still on and visor open.

I never did make it to that gate and I never managed a photo.
That was because I was attacked by the residents of the wasps nest hiding in the lamp above the gate!

Three bites to the hands and on right on the bridge of my nose!
With arms flailing about I retreated to a safer spot down the road, licked my wounds, waited for security to either die of fly away then
stealthily returned to the Rebel with gloves on and visor down.
Sorry, I can't show you that mansion.

So back along lane-ways onto #1006 again where I noticed a "Help Thailand" sign pointing down a lane-way.
Yes, another Christian orphanage.

At this point I heard loud thunder, so pointed the Rebel towards home.

I arrived just before the rain.

Yet another very enjoyable couple of hours getting to know my neighbourhood.

Ahh, found it!
Undeterred by the wasp attack I actually managed to squeeze the button in mid-attack.
Here's the guarded dog.
Lucky there's no audio here!
