The Route 1090, 4014, 4008, 1206, 2043, 2004
Total Distance 171 km
Along the 4014
No chainsaws here, everything has to be cut by hand
Now on the 4008 and fuel was available from a hand pump at N16.28.928 E098.38.732.
A look at the Moei
These have got lots to keep them busy today
Next stop was the Huai Nam Nak hot spring at N16.26.307 E098.39.610.
According to that the water is slightly warm
Theres another fenced off one here as well
I take the 1206 then take a right off of it to ride closer to the border, this road starts off as asphalt but then its a loose surface from N16.20.535 E098.41.207 to N16.20.067 E098.40.408
This turns to dirt at N16.19.688 E098.40.107 and goes down to the border which is now the Huai Wale
Over in Burma
A crossing here
I return to a paved surface at N16.19.613 E098.40.145 and ride on
Another burnt out tree, this one is still smoking
A pleasant surface now
Two Burmese girls washing their hair in the river
Now at the old unmanned border crossing in Waley and where I have crossed over many times for a wander around the Burmese village also called Waley
Hes following me across
Now on Burmese soil
The pagoda that when I was here six years ago was only partially finished
A quick five minutes poke around then I walk back, I have been here a few times before and cant be bothered to walk around the village again today, I doubt if it has changed much anyway
The new crossing which is manned and where I am told I am not permitted to cross.
Last time I crossed over on the other bridge and walked back over this one, the look on their faces was priceless, one of astonishment at where I had come from
There was a fuel station in Waley and a couple of hand pumps as well so no worries about fuel out here
Just out of waley and I take a right at N16.18.224 E098.42.935 where the track turns to dirt and ride down to the river where I have often seen vehicles crossing over
Quite shallow here
I ride around exploring the border roads and riding through many villages, this one had fuel in a hand pump at N16.18.846 E098.43.459
I stop for a snack and when the shop owner has no customers shes busy with this
The finished product
Fuel was available in bottles where these people were at N16.20.618 E098.44.422
Now that wasnt there last time I rode here
I take a right at N16.21.655 E098.45.382 onto a dirt track to hopefully locate it and its looking like I have the right track
My track finishes and I climb up a hill to see my target was on another track
Now to climb down again
I ride back a bit then take a dirt track starting at N16.21.364 E098.45.588
This track is the right one
I ride up an extremely steep hill and this is as far as the track goes
Its a climb up there and I will let someone else have the pleasure of doing it
Now to ride home and I notice a fuel station at N16.22.510 E098.42.467
It looks like that building got slightly damaged in a fire, more fuel stations in Phop Phra
Mexican fajitas at Krua Canadian for 140 Baht
