Lone Rider
Blokes Who Can
The festival this year will be twice as big as in previous years as there will be a diversity of activities taking place. One of these will be a light and sound theatrical performace with the title "The Legend of Vat Phou", a love story about a young man and woman, Thao Bachieng and Nang Malong. The show will depict the establishment of the Kingdom of Champasak and highlight its history from the early beginnings to the present day. In addition there will be guest performances by artists from Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. Vat Phou is open from 08:00 to 18:00 and admission is around 30,000 Kip (source Sabaidee Magazine).
The festival will be held from 20-25 February with Macha Bucha on 25 February being one of the highlights for the local people for whom Makha Bucha is an important religious day. Here are some pictures of the Macha Bucha celebrations of 2011 with lots of people at that time on the site of Vat Phou.
