This article from KPL new's.

The article refers to the last SIX months, if that is correct that is a huge amount of ordnance that has been recovered in a mighty short period....

(KPL) The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs informed development partners, donors, and representatives of international organizations last Friday that efforts being made to remove and destroy unexploded ordnance in the Lao PDR have not yet reached the Millennium Development Goal (MDG9).
Mr Saleumxay Kommasith, whose post stated earlier, told a meeting in Vientiane that over the past six months, there has been an increase in the number of UXO accidents with over 30 UXO cases being recorded. However, over 2,227 ha of land has been cleared of unexploded ordnance with 56,551 bomblets, 106 big bombs, 28 land mines, and 14,926 other UXO items being destroyed.
The provision of assistance to victims or survivors is yet to satisfy the government and its development partners, the deputy minister noted.
With support and assistance from the international community and international partners, the Lao government has cleared 33,350 ha of land of unexploded ordnance, and destroyed 242,056 bomblets along with 2,150 big bombs, 1,141 land mines and 314,407 other ammunitions.
UXO clearance efforts were focused on focal development and priority communities.
At a meeting to mark the 5th Anniversary of the Convention on Cluster Munitions, the “Oslo Convention,” in Vientiane, the Lao Deputy Minister urged the international community and international donors to increase their support and contributions to the Lao PDR so that it can achieve UXO clearance goals.
