Udon Ratana Dam & the snake charmers
After the monks had blessed us and received their morning rations
It was time to get some Chok Dee from the big boss, who is now sadly dead
The scripture from the monk stayed on for about a week
From Chiayapum the R201 took us up to the beautiful Udon Ratana Dam
It was pretty quiet up there, not many tourists at all and a decent restauarant
We then headed further north as Doon knew where they were some snake boxers
First there were young girls doing a dance show with snakes
Then an apprentice snake boxer (we were told this was a non-poisonous training snake)
It was then snake boxing masters show time and their skills interms of reaction speeds were amazing
The guy in this picture had 2 fingers missing which he said was from snake bites
The boxes around the edge are where they keep the snakes, looks like they padlock them at night.
Some say that the snakes teeth are pulled out and super glued back in
Others say that they cut the viens from the poison glands to the teeth, which reconnect every 3 months and then need to be cut again
Always a fun day out with Doon & Oi, who are 2 very active riders in Chiayapum, Doon is a lot of fun
