A friend has a bike in England which he will be lending to me to ride around the UK during August.

To meet local law I, apparently, need to be added to my friend's insurance policy as a 'named driver/rider'.

In fact, this seems to be a very difficult thing to do.
It seems that, whilst 'driver for car' can be done relatively easily, 'rider for bike' is much more difficult.

I have read it can be done, even on a temporary short-term basis.

As I want to satisfy all legal obligations, as does my friend, can anyone suggest what we can do?

Thank you.

Yes Colin!

Eventually found this Broker ......

"St John Canfield-Payne" <jcpayne.canpayne@tamcentraluk.com>
Tel: 01342 302422
Fax: 01342 301432
The Cravens, Ship Street, East Grinstead, RH19

.... who got us a policy with Equity Red Star where I am covered for 12 months as a 'named rider'.
That means I'll go back next April to do Ireland, which I'm going to have to postpone this time due to
a full itinerary!
