Since the wet weather curtailed my return to the saddle and nice dirt ride it also coincided with my trusty XR acid cell battery giving up the ghost after just over a year in service, these things do give up with little warning.

I recalled a friend had been singing the praises of some Lithium batteries for sale by Steve another forum member ( more here Lithium Battery Post ) my pal is normally in the know with any trending products so decided to take the plunge and start the switch over of my bikes from Acid Cell to Lithium.

I decided to switch out 2 of my 250's, this is how it went.

The CRF was to be first and the most notable in terms of the size difference between stock and weight.

The batteries come with a plentiful supply of adhesive foam packers to fill the void left by the old battery

Installation on the CRF was pretty simply I had to remove a small section of the battery housing to enable the negative pole to be attached and both terminals needing drilling out slightly to fit the new terminal bolts, suitably dated it was a matter of reassembly.

As you can see a number of foam packers are needed.

The old XR was a cakewalk with no fancy wiring to worry about.

The battery only marginally smaller than stock but a huge weight difference (as you can see i decided to go for 9 amp batteries for both machines).

A modest amount of packing required.

All done both bikes taking 30 minutes to complete.

The XR jumped to life instantly a lot better than before, the CRF, well it starts first time every time, now for the rain to stop and road test them. Overall very happy with the price, build quality and the specifications, the rest of the fleet will soon follow.
