Just over 50km north east of Chiang Mai & some great, local, concrete. twisty roads to get there. It's a really unusual coffee shop/ restaurant/ guest house that's built around a huge tree on the side of a cliff.

There's a couple of ways of getting there from Chiang Mai, they are about the same distance, both just over 50km

Been meaning to do a write up on this place for a few weeks also.. Advisable to book any day, went by midweek and only got drinks for 10 mins because it was booked, the lady running the place said its pretty much like that all the time.

Such nice country out that way.. the royal project place a few kms short of the Giant also a great stop, and so many the homes out deep into the woods are really well maintained and with nice gardens and stuff, contrast that with rural isaan where they live surrounded by their own garbage and its such a change. It really is lovely country out through there.

If you continue on the road out past flight of the gibbon to Chae Son you can loop back with the great 1252, thats about my favorite short day loop at the moment, so much nicer than the standard 'pai and back' with no mad silver vans, yet great twisty roads. Can end it with beers at the Doi Saket lake or even the burmese karaoke..

Theres also some good off road singletrack in the hills between the 1230 and there which are not on any of the GPS maps. They have also just resurfaced the 1229 with a whole load of high quality racetrack smooth tarmac where you have a few kms of just hoontastic dips and sweepers.. A real Darryl Rd !!

Loads of great spots that side but much less write ups than the usual Samoeng, Mae Rim, Chang Dao, Pai side where people seem to focus more.
