There's some new information on the HU website regarding several riders that say they are about to take their foreign registered motorcycles into Myanmar on temporary import. This is important because it's the first time it's ever happened. They say, after several months, they have all the necessary permits and paperwork in order, this will be fascinating to watch.

From the HU website:

"In only a few days we will cross the border from Thailand to Myanmar with our bikes! We finally got approval from the officals and the visas are in preparation... our friend Joerg in Bangkok where we are currently staying did a great job in persuading the officals.... after 4 months of negotiating and a lot of work we eventually got the ok only 2 days ago. Apparently it was offically discussed even in the cabinet of Myanmar, where it was officially approved that we can enter the country. We will be the first group of foreign bikers that are allowed to travel the country with big motorcycles..... so exciting!"

Below is the thread to watch to see how this progresses:

Interesting.. Tho I thought the permits had been granted for vehicles a few times.. Tho thinking about it unsure if it was ever bikes only SUV's.

The issue being how hard it is to get the permits.
