500,000 Ringgit fine in Malaysia I think, isn't it

Thats 5 million Baht or thereabouts, they should implement it here

Capt. Slash, you have been around, you know who start these fires and why....
Do you seriously believe that any fine will help the problem???

And even if you believe so, you know the people who start these fires do not have 5 million baht, how much more they have to burn or crazy pills they have to sell to recover?

You are correct there

In order to solve any problem I believe it is beneficial to look at the origin of the problem and address that cause (if needed and possible).

The Thais have been burning the lowlands to prepare for their rice fields ages ago, when no white face ever set foot on Lanna soil.

In fact, forrest fires happen naturally every day as a balance of nature and are in such not a real issue.

All of this is part of the heritage and culture of the area we decided to migrate too and as such, we have to learn to live with it.

Witnesses saw helicopter drop 'sparks' on refugee camp | Bangkok Post: news

"A police source who questioned Mae Surin camp refugees in the aftermath of the inferno said many witnesses told the officers they saw a helicopter flying above the camp minutes before the fire broke out. They also said they saw a burning object dropped from the helicopter on the roof of a house in Zone 1.

A source from the police forensics team Monday said traces of phosphorus had been found in the grounds of the house where the blaze was believed to have started. " (Bgk Post)
